Square-Enix Hints at Final Fantasy XIII-3

While many were disappointed by Final Fantasy XIII-2′s ending gamers were told Lightning and co’s story was “to be continued.”

Most assumed that meant DLC but Square have now hinted that a sequel might be on the way:

“The [FF 13-2] Lightning download content had an ending that left a feeling of mystery and hope,” director Motomu Toriyama told Famitsu (via Andriasang).

“The day when the meaning of this will come to light is not too far off.”

Such an announcement would tie-in with the Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary celebrations this year which will be marked by an event on 31st August in Shibuya, Tokyo.

Toriyama, when asked about a Final Fantasy X remake, said ”regarding HD conversions, there is a lot to look into, so please wait a bit more.”

Final Fantasy VII is set to be re-released on PC later this year.
