Darksiders II, New Super Mario Bros. 2 Lead August Game Sales

With August 2012 officially in the books, market research firm NPD has released the numbers for software sales in the US, giving us a look at the most popular games for the month.

Action game Darksiders II took top honors, followed by 3DS hits New Super Mario Bros. 2 and Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. Here’s a complete list of the top ten best-selling games from July 29th through August 25th:

1. Darksiders II
2. New Super Mario Bros 2
3. Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance
4. NCAA Football 13
5. Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes
6. Sleeping Dogs
7. Transformers: Fall of Cybertron
8. Batman: Arkham City
9. Call of Duty: Black Ops
10. The Amazing Spider-Man

It should be noted that 3DS hardware sales also saw a nice bump in numbers due to the release of the re-designed 3DS XL released on August 19th in North America.
