GameStop announced that they are now taking pre-orders for the Wii U and boosting up the trade value of the Wii by $10. Do NOT bite into this… just yet. This isn’t about getting a paltry amount back for a console you bought and basically getting ripped off. No, this is about being able to transfer your data, Virtual Console, and Wii Ware files from your Wii to your brand new Wii U on November 18th (or whenever you actually buy one).
Here is the official announcement from Nintendo, courtesy of Gimme Gimme Games:
Both systems will need to be connected to the Internet and the Wii U will need an SD card to facilitate the transfer. The process is very similar to transferring content from Nintendo DS to Nintendo 3DS or from Nintendo 3DS to Nintendo 3DS XL.
