Wii U Update Failure Can Result in Bricked Device

Apparently the internet is running rampant with information about the Wii U update, which when downloaded and installed will convert the Wii U from default game console only into your media device, enabling Miiverse and online eShop. But in the event of downloading the 1GB file (the OS takes 5GB when uncompressed) and the loss of power or in some instances the loss of the connection (internet), the Wii U will fail to boot or restore back to the original OS until the download is complete.

The tweets keep coming from people whose power or Internet went out during the 5 gb update and now, like mine, their Wii U is a brick

Rumors are that the Wii U is downloading and swapping files on the fly as the compressed file is transferred. Will update when we have more information.
