Early this morning, Square-Enix launched a teaser site for a yet unknown title. Information that can be discerned from the site are the phrases “Secret Title 12.12.12,” “lift off,” “Star,” and “Divide.” The countdown is set to finish Tuesday Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. PST.
The distinct outer space, multiple planet motif lends heavily to the idea that this may be related to Square’s Star Ocean franchise. The franchise was first introduced for the Super Famicom in 1996, by then independent company Enix. There has since been 3 major title releases, the most recent being 2009’s Star Ocean: The Last Hope for Xbox 360.
Late last month, Square Enix registered the domain names AllTheBravest.com and AllTheBravest.net, as well as trademarked “All the Bravest” in Europe. It is possible that the countdown clock may end in an announcement for a new Star Ocean.
However, Square-Enix recently gave the same countdown clock treatment to the announcement of an iOS port of The World Ends With You. So it is equally likely, this may just be a port of a previous Star Ocean title.
Then there is the third equally likely possibility that this may just be a new game entirely. Regardless wait till Tuesday, and we shall see.
