After hearing so much about violent video games and about how politicians and the like view the link between violent video games and aggressive behavior (if there is one), it’s nice to see a bright spot. That spot belongs to the people at Evo, who managed to raise $225,744 for breast cancer research.
The folks at Evo set up a competition to decide which fighting game would earn a spot in Evo’s annual Las Vegas tournament. During said competition, several donation pages were set up, with each page based on a different fighting game, such as Soul Calibur V or Super Smash Bros. Melee. Anyone interested in donating could go to the pages and donate, and the game that has earned the most money by the end of January would win the spot. Super Smash Bros. Melee won the spot, managing to raise just south of $95K, $94,683.
According to Evo, 100% of the proceeds will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Well done, lads.
