If you intended on buying a physical copy of Fire Emblem: Awakening, then be prepared for ultimate disappointment. Other than the 3DS eShop, it’s pretty difficult tracking Awakening down.
Sure, it wasn’t the most scientific or comprehensive search I could have done, but when I searched for Fire Emblem: Awakening on Amazon, GameStop stores close to where I live, and Best Buy, both online and in-store, I came up empty. When I asked an employee at my local GameStop when they expect to have copies, he told me that the game will arrive tomorrow. While searching on Amazon, a proper copy of the game from Amazon didn’t even show up.
Nintendo released the following statement in regards to this snafu:
Nintendo makes every effort to make sure its games and systems are available at retail stores nationwide on launch day. Sometimes, because of the variables of shipping, different retailers receive their shipments on different days. Fire Emblem Awakening can be purchased right now from the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS.
