For those of you that aren’t familiar with the indie game market, there exists a popular charity website called Humble Bundle that utilizes a pay-what-you-want system where you can donate money to charity and receive a handful of games from doing so. You even receive the option to determine where your money goes. Want all of your money to be donated to Child’s Play or the Electronic Frontier Foundation? That’s where it goes. Would you rather support a specific developer of one of the bundle’s games? You can do that too. You can pay anything you want to get all of the games in the bundle completely DRM-free. Sounds like a pretty good deal, right?
A new Humble Bundle sales plan began yesterday with the reveal of the Humble Weekly Sale. Previously, Humble Bundle was known for monthly bundles of 5 or 6 games as a part of a single sale that lasted for two weeks, and then there wouldn’t be another sale for a few more weeks. This time around, Humble Bundle is offering a single game to be purchased over the course of a week. For just one dollar, you receive the DRM-free copy of the game, as well as a Steam key for the same game. Beating the average price of what people are paying for the bundle will net you a bunch of bonus content, such as a digital soundtrack or exclusive digital art. For $25 or more, however, you receive a bunch of awesome merchandise for the game, and worldwide shipping is included in the price. You only have a week to purchase the bundle, though, so pick it up before time runs out and next week’s sale starts. This week’s sale is dated to end Tuesday March 26th, at 2 P.M. EST.
This week’s game is Bastion, which you may or may not recognize as one of the games I raved about in a previous Indie Arcade article. Bastion is normally sold for $15 via Steam, but you can get it right now through Humble Bundle for as little as one dollar. Just buy it. You’ll thank me later.
