Resident Evil isn’t over yet, but whether that’s good or bad news is yet to be seen. An image has surfaced on the Internet regarding Resident Evil 7, showing Capcom preparing to announce the game at E3 this year.
The image, courtesy of ResidentEvilNews.com, shows the potential new logo (in the familiar Resident Evil style) and the new tagline of “The War Ends Now.” So could Resident Evil 7 finally be the last game in the series? The validity of this image is definitely being questioned though, just showing the right amount of information for any Photoshop-savvy person to start a new rumor. It does look pretty shabby and fan-made, but that could just be because it’s a rough E3 poster. It is surely something to keep an eye out for at this year’s conference. You can see the full image (rumored to be a PNG file distributed) at the bottom of this article.
Capcom has only just recently finished releasing the latest Resident Evil installment, Resident Evil Revelations (due to come out in the EU tomorrow, on the 24th May) which will hopefully bring some love back to the once-beloved horror franchise. Resident Evil 6 didn’t appear to do them many favors with the fans, so we can only hope that Resident Evil 7 (if it does indeed exist and will be shown this year) will fix previous mistakes.
E3 will be running from June 11th to June 13th in the Los Angeles Convention Center, and you can expect many a game to be announced this year. This includes many titles set for a next generation release. Who knows, perhaps Resident Evil 7 will be locked on to the Playstation 4 and Xbox One. As with all rumors, until Capcom confirms or denies this please take it with a pinch of salt.
Anything in particular you want to see in the potentially-last Resident Evil game? Personally I would like to see some actual zombies. As in slow-moving, relentless, gives-you-chills kind of zombies. Not the kind that wield guns or, as some people get mistaken by, ones that are anything like the Las Plaga. Those guys kind of sucked.
