Pitchford: Borderlands 2 Won’t Need PS3 Installation

Gerabox’s co-founder and CEO Randy Pitchford took to twitter today to confirm that the PlayStation 3 version of the developer’s upcoming sequel Borderlands 2 will not need to be installed.

Pitchford (@duvalmagic) tweeted: “Borderlands 2 on PS3 requires NO installation – just insert Bluray disc and go. Alternatively, get the game digitally via PSN.”

Borderlands 2 is due to be released on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on the 18th of September in North America and on the 21st of September in Europe.

The original Borderlands was an unexpected success selling between 3 million and 4.5 million units though Borderlands 2 will introduce new protagonists and is not a direct narrative continuation of the co-op focused shooter-RPG.
