Dishonored Developer: PS4′s 8GM RAM ‘a Joy’
Speaking to Eurogamer at this week’s BAFTA Video Game Awards Christophe Carrier, Arkane’s lead level designer, said the PlayStation 4′s 8GB of RAM is ‘a joy’ for developers.
“We need memory, you know?” Carrier said.
“As a level designer we are struggling against memory every day. We cut things, we remove things, we strip things, we split the levels, we remove NPCs from levels because there’s not enough memory.
“We were PC gamers at the beginning. We love PC games, and we had to make games on consoles. But the main problem was memory. The processors are good, but the memory, for our games, is the most important. So it’s great,” he concluded.
Dinga Bakaba, a game designer and associate producer at Arkane, commented that he was “pretty impressed” with the PS4 adding “we are looking forward at how we can integrate all those things into our [next] game.”
Bethesda, which published Dishonored – Arkane’s last project - has previously said the title is “clearly the start of a new franchise”.
Dishonored won game of the year at the BAFTAs.
