The Experience Boost Isn’t The Reason You Should Pre-Order Diablo III, But It Doesn’t Hurt

The PS3 version of Diablo III is finally available for pre-order, and it comes with a nifty experience gaining bonus.  If you slap down your $59.99 now, Blizzard offers you the nefarious-sounding Infernel helm.  The helm, which we can only assume is the first of many announced pre-order bonuses, will boost users experience from the get-go, and will help alleviate a bit of the grinding on your way to Inferno difficulty.

This one’s from Blizzard, and you can get the full details about it at their official site, so we can’t wait to see what all the individual stores like Best Buy, GameStop and Wal-Mart offer.  One thing we know they won’t have: always online requirements.  At last, a spotty connection won’t indefinitely table your Diablo III match, although it was too much to hope for that we could experience it for under sixty bucks.  However, you’re not getting the exact same game released last year; Blizzard has been working tirelessly tweaking it for consoles.

“We’ve poured blood, sweat, and hellfire into creating an epic Diablo III experience for PlayStation gamers,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “In addition to including all the improvements from the PC version over the past year, we’ve made several updates to Diablo III for play on the PS3. We got a ton of positive feedback from players who tried the game at PAX East, and we can’t wait to get it into everyone’s hands later this year.”

Particular attention has been paid to the control scheme, which Blizzard swears will make the PlayStation controller feel like “second nature”.  I’m optimistic, but I’ll have to see it to truly believe it.  What I’m most looking forward to:  local coop.  Not enough games allow four players to gather on a couch and quest together, and to get one of Diablo III’s caliber is an absolute coup for Sony.  That’s the reason I’ll be getting it.

Do you plan on picking up the PS3 or PS4 versions of Diablo III?  How do you feel about the tweaks they are making, or the inclusion of coop?  Let us know!
