Suppose that's good news to be heard, though getting all those workers rehired would be even better. Hear Microsoft and Sony are offering jobs to 'em. With Bioshock on your resume, wouldn't be surprised if they'll be back at work sooner than later.
BioShock Franchise To Continue
Despite the shocking news of Irrational Games’ premature closing, which saw 90% of its staff laid-off, its beloved series will continue to go on. Publisher 2K Games confirmed to Gameinformer that despite series creator Ken Levine’s decision to change development focus, we’ll still be able to play future Bioshock installments.
“BioShock is one of our most beloved and critically acclaimed franchises, and we are indebted to Ken and the talented team at Irrational Games for their contributions to the series with BioShock and BioShock Infinite; the latter being one of the most decorated games of 2013,” a 2K Games representative told the site. “The BioShock universe remains a rich creative canvas for many untold stories, and we look forward to exploring the next BioShock experience.”
Following the closure of Irrational Games, no future updates have been made concerning BioShock on Playstation Vita. The potential handheld game has probably turned into vaporware. And for employees that have been effected, Boston developer Fire Hose Games is currently offering free office space for those looking to turn to indie development.
Ken Levine also confirmed the healthy number of studios that will be attending a recruiting day held by Irrational for its laid-off employees. Studios such as Sucker Punch, Epic, Bioware, Retro Studios, Gearbox, etc. are some of the confirmed attendees.
