Xbox One Boss: New IP And Sequels Will be Revealed At E3

Xbox One boss Phil Spencer revealed a slew of new details regarding Microsoft’s plans for E3 via several tweets. When asked by fans whether or not we’d be seeing both new IP and sequel announcements at their press conference, he replied : “Yes, we’ll announce both new IP and new sequels at E3.”

He also stated that the company will be focusing on hardcore gamers, subtlety indicating that it made a mistake last year by adhering to the casual market. He also interestingly revealed that there will be a few announcements sometime in May as well. “Yea, you’ll get a couple of things before. May should be a good month for news. Took me a month to get plans set,” Spencer said.

In a number of his other tweets, he revealed that Microsoft will talk about its Japanese games before the Tokyo Game Show in September and that it won’t be developing a handheld system anytime soon. “I don’t think we’ll do a dedicated handheld gaming device, rather just focus on [Windows Phone], tablets, maybe with controller support someday,” Spencer said.

E3 is only a month away, with several other companies already dating their conferences. Sony has also recently filed its fourth game-related trademark, indicating that it also will have a few announcements to makes come June. Nintendo revealed last week that it will skip a live press conference for the second year running, but it will talk about its software line-up.
