Valve Set To Reveal More Details On Their Gaming Hardware Next Week
Valve has been dropping hints about their gaming hardware again. This time Valve are set to reveal more details about their gaming hardware next week, according to Gabe Newell, who made the announcement during this year’s LinuxCon 2013 conference. It’s highly anticipated that the topic of the main feature of this reveal will be the “Steam Box”, which is believe to let people play their Steam games on other devices. Pretty awesome! In the speech Mr Newel said that Linux open source software is “the future of gaming”, due to it’s openness which contrasts with the world of consoles, mobiles and tablets.
Linux is also meant to be a friendlier operating system than Windows, letting anyone tinker with its internal workings. Valve has been using Linux to ensure that gaming stays open, letting you play your games on a multitude of platforms. The following was added in his press release:
The next step in our contribution to this is to release some work we’ve done on the hardware side.
I guess we’ll have to see exactly what they announce next week, but from the looks of it the Valve hardware is really going to be interesting!
