Fans of the long-lived survival horror franchise will be happy today after Capcom released a shiny new fact sheet and a new gameplay trailer for Gamescom 2016.
Fans are carefully scrutinizing the latest title after Capcom promised to take the series back to its horror roots, and the company seem eager to deliver. Resident Evil 7 Biohazard is set on a sinister plantation in Dulvey, Louisiana, and introduces new characters Jack and Marguerite Baker (mysteriously missing, of course!) You’ll also be seeing yet another mystery frightened young woman called Mia who appears on the plantation.
Take a look at the Resident Evil 7 Lantern trailer:
Resident Evil 7 Biohazard is set to return to its horror roots, delivering a gameplay experience that is “reminiscent of the series’ signature gameplay including exploration, puzzles and a realistic tense atmosphere”. The classic inventory system is also set to make a comeback, but with significantly limited space meaning players will have to think carefully about what they stockpile!
It also promises to bring the horror straight to your face – quite literally, with the addition of first person view. That means no hiding behind the sofa with this game, especially if you combine it with Capcom’s shiny new VR-compatible game engine, which will “create a disturbingly photorealistic experience for an unprecedented level of immersion”. They’ve certainly got my attention!
Resident Evil 7 Biohazard is set to release on Playstation 4 (with the full gameplay experience available via the included Playstation VR mode), Xbox One and PC (Steam and Windows 10 store) on January 24 2017.
