Pokemon first came to life in 1995 and kids, teens, and adults alike went crazy for the new video game. Almost 25 years later, people all around the world are still enjoying this franchise.
Today, many people indulge in Pokemon Go, which is a game you can play right on your smartphone. Whether you’re a veteran or a newbie, it’s always good to have some insider information.
Here are 10 tips for Pokemon Go so you can catch ’em all!
It’s really exciting to catch Pokemon, so you might feel compelled to power up your Pokemon as soon as you get them. But that’s the wrong way to go about it.
You can catch Pokemon and build up your collection. But before you start powering them up, focus on racking up your trainer XP first.
This will benefit you in several ways. First of all, when you evolve and hatch your Pokemon, they’ll be higher level. Secondly, you won’t have to use as many candies to power them up.
It’s best to wait until you’re at least level 20 before you start powering up your Pokemon.
As you level your trainer, the more XP it takes to reach the next level. This means while you’ll level quickly in the beginning, it may become more tedious as you pass each one.
Here are some tips on how to level quickly:
Every player gets an infinite use incubator, but sometimes, you’ll get a 3x incubator as a reward. You can also buy them from the shop.
You’re probably wondering how to best juggle these incubators to get the maximum output. Since the 3x incubators have limited usage, you should use them only for your 10 km eggs. That way, you get 30 km out of them instead of 6, 15, or 21 km out of the other eggs.
As for the infinite incubator you started out with, always use it for the 2 km eggs. If you’re out of those, then put the 5 or 7 km eggs in it.
You might think duplicate Pokemon are useless, but think twice. Not only will catching them get you more XP, but you can also turn them into candy.
So it’s fine to catch 20 Rattatas. Pick the one that’s most powerful, then turn the rest into candy to power up your better Pokemon.
As we said above, Lucky Eggs will double the XP you earn for 30 minutes. You might be tempted to pop one on just because you’re playing, but you need to plan wisely. There are kind of rare, after all.
Obviously, you have to make sure you’ll be actively playing for all 30 minutes to get the most out of it. Also, you should also save them for when you’re in a busy area and you’re certain you’ll be duking it out at the Gyms, plus catching and hatching Pokemon left and right.
PokeStops will give you free items and XP. The best thing is they aren’t finite! It’ll turn purple when you’ve “visited” it, but it’ll reset within a few minutes.
This means if you’re out having a coffee or lunch, you can keep checking nearby stops and pile up on the rewards and XP! If you have a few Pokemon Go accounts, make sure to check the PokeStops on those as well.
One way to get candies is to trade them in. But another way is to make one your walking buddy. This means you’ll earn candies for every so kilometers you walk; the amount will depend on the Pokemon itself.
Not only will you get extra candies out of it, but your avatar will look pretty cute. For instance, if you pick Pikachu as your walking buddy, whenever you click on your avatar, you’ll see him perched on your shoulder.
You don’t have to do every single thing in your tasks menu. Instead, you can delete them.
When you do this, you can finish your tasks quicker and not have to bother with the more challenging ones. For instance, if you get a Raid task but all the Raids have ended for the day, then delete it and move onto the next task.
Pokemon Go has been so successful because it’s not like a typical video game. You can’t just play it within the comfort of your home.
Instead, you have to travel around to different PokeStops and Gyms. Now that there are raids, you can also participate in those.
To get the most out of the game, try going outside of your comfort zone and exploring your city, as well as new places. Not only will you get more physical activity in, but you may also pick up some new friends along the way. Plus, you might find some regionally exclusive Pokemon!
Just like in the original games, Pokemon have types, which means they’ll be strong or weak against other types. It’s like a complicated and more exciting game of “Rock, Paper, Scissors.”
Make sure you brush up on the general idea of things so you don’t end up on a losing streak. For example, water beats fire, fire beats grass, and grass beats water.
With these tips for Pokemon Go, you’ll be able to catch ’em all and be the strongest trainer out there. So what are you waiting for? Hit the streets and put our tips to good use!
